Torchwood is a British science fiction and crime drama created by Russell T. Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the fictional Torchwood Institute.
Torchwood is a spin-off from the long-running science fiction series Doctor Who. The title "Torchwood" is an anagram of "Doctor Who". The name was used as the "codename" for the new series of Dr Who while filming its first few episodes and on the "rushes" tapes to ensure they were not
intercepted.
It follows the Wales branch "Torchwood Three" of a covert agency called
Torchwood which investigates extra-terrestrial incidents on Earth and
also scavenges alien technology for human use. To paraphrase Torchwood
Threes commander-in-chief, Captain Jack Harkness, the organisation is
beyond the government, the police, and the United Nations. Torchwood was formed in 1879 by the royal decree of Queen Victoria. The public
simply knows them as "special ops" and nothing more.

The Torchwood Forum Knowledge Base is a collaborative community project by Elite members of TorchwoodForum.co.uk which has replaced the previous knowledge base: Torchpedia. The aim of the new Knowledge Base is to provide a highly definitive & accurate information resource for all things Torchwood all on one website.
This Knowledge Base is user editable so Elite members can add to or edit the content of the database. Please help add new information to the KB as it becomes available to keep it up to date. If you are viewing a section which you can contribute to, please do so! The are some out dated sections at the moment and some sections (Series 2!) which need accurate information adding to.
Please always try to state & link to the source of the content you add if it not your own work.
